Polarities of Mind

The bourgeoisie and the proletariat cannot disappear by communist revolutions, no,


because the communist revolution is by the same people. The Czar ruled Russia; he ruled

it through the left hemisphere of the mind. Then he was replaced by Lenin who was of

the same type. Then Lenin was replaced by Stalin who was even more of the same type.

The revolution is false because deep down the same type of people are ruling -- the ruler

and the ruled mean the same, and the ruled are those of the right-sided hemisphere. So

whatsoever you do in the outside world makes no difference really, it is superficial.

The same applies to men and women. Women are right-hemisphere people, men are lefthemisphered.

Men have ruled women for centuries. Now a few women are revolting but

the amazing thing is that these are the same type of women. In fact they are just like men

-- rational, argumentative, Aristotelian. It is possible that one day, just as the communist

revolution has succeeded in Russia and China, somewhere, maybe in America, women

can succeed and overthrow men. But by the time the women succeed, the women will no

more be women, they will have become left-hemisphered. Because to fight, one has to be

calculative, and to fight with men you have to be like men: aggressive. That very

aggressiveness is shown all over the world in women's liberation. Women who have

become part of that liberation movement are very aggressive, they are losing all grace, all

that comes out of intuition. Because if you have to fight with men you have to learn the

same trick; if you have to fight with men, you have to fight with the same techniques.

Fighting with anybody is very dangerous because you become like your enemy. That is

one of the greatest problems of humanity. Once you fight with somebody, by and by you

have to use the same technique and the same way. Then the enemy may be defeated but

by the time he is defeated you have become your own enemy. Stalin is more Czar-like

than any Czar, more violent than any Czar. Of course it has to be so: to throw Czars, very

violent people are needed, more violent than the Czar himself. Only they will become the

revolutionaries, will come out on top. By the time they reach there they have become

Czars themselves, and the society continues on the same way. Just superficial things

change, deep down the same conflict remains.

The conflict is in man. Unless it is resolved there, it cannot be resolved anywhere else.

The politics is within you; it is between the two parts of the mind.

A very small bridge exists. If that bridge is broken through some accident, through some

physiological defect or something else, the person becomes split, the person becomes two

persons -- and the phenomenon of schizophrenia or split personality happens. If the

bridge is broken -- and the bridge is very fragile -- then you become two, you behave like

two persons. In the morning you are very loving, very beautiful; in the evening you are

very angry, absolutely different. You don't remember your morning... how can you

remember? Another mind was functioning -- and the person becomes two persons. If this

bridge is strengthened so much that the two minds disappear as two and become one, then

integration, then crystallization, arises. What George Gurdjieff used to call the

crystallization of being is nothing but these two minds becoming one, the meeting of the

male and the female within, the meeting of yin and yang, the meeting of the left and right,

the meeting of logic and illogic, the meeting of Plato and Aristotle.

If you can understand this basic bifurcation in your tree of then you can understand all the

conflict that goes on around and inside you.

The River

From the highest valleys I was born

Tears of god flow in my veins ..

People read their depth ..and called it my own

Anger , silence and laughter too were not mine

Some poets saw their poems too in me ,stories unfold ..yet untold

Lovers entwined their embrace on my shores and called me lovely

Generations ..of pollution and salvations too I contained

They saw a mirror and defined me with what they saw !

helpless I am in this flow ..without shape ..or identity

from the highest to the lowest .. I flow

In a path defined by every step I take

Cold I was.. to the one who was warm ……

And too hot I was for the one frigid !

One million lives ..fishes ,plants and some wild snakes too

Called me their home ,I gave life and took them too

Anger greed envy and love .life death and endless longings

Yet I was none .. and I was all too

A puzzle I was when words graced my ignorance

Without shape or sound ..I let my path shape my colours

It hurts ..but I cried not .bloodless wounds ..silent laughters

Surrendered I was ..to the push and pull of gravity

and rarely ..on a shrine ..to love too I heeded

Sinners and saints ..all grace my heart with equal footings

Procreation and defeacation all gave birth to my elements

Scars and tears of funerals to the flowers of births

Of tender feet of young life to the dead realisation of corpses

From the ignorant to the innocent ..I read them all yet I read none !

Knew it all yet remained ignorant ! Readings lost in sunlight ..

Cold and frozen I am in december ..I would not move or even breath ..

Yet alive is the dead in me ! so I may live to see and flow

On the first ray of morning light ..Sometimes it takes all afternoon

or even days of intense heat .. to help me wake up ..from the deepest of slumber ..

Then I flow again ..carrying memories of frozen days ..

My prayers to flow again was greeted with flowers of spring ..

and graced too was I by the falling wisdom of autumn leaves ..

but I outlived seasons , shapes , and vast infinite expanses

Toward my lover , I flow ..towards her silence and laughter are my journey ..

Only hours .. it has only been hours since I started my journey ..

Yet I seemed to have covered one million eternal miles towards my prayers ..

Towards my very blood and towards my very heart beat !

Wide awake is my lovers hand in entwining me towards eternity

But I was to lose myself and find myself in her ..

In her I was no more ..but with her I was infinitely more ..

She was the death of the ME in me ! and i was born as her !

My memories evaporated in her warmth and i forgot what I tried to remember

We both melted into each other .. River into sea and sea into eternity ..into love ..

Nethi NEthi

In Indian Philosophy there is some thing called "Nethi, Nethi..." (Spelling may not be correct). its meaning is "this is not, this is not...". They use this philosophical term to describe God. That is God (Super power is so big) and all encompassing, so that we cannot understand that existence fully. God is everywere and in everything we can see God (Super Power). So ordinary human being may confuse the ordinary things of the world as God (Super Power) and may attach themselves on that worldly things, which may have some qualities of God. eg: God is not air, even though air can reach every were; God is not water, even though water can purify things; God is not ocian, even though it can be the dwelling place of many creatures; God is not sun, even though sun illumine everything. NOW YOU MAY BE THINKING WHY ON EARTH I AM TALKING ABOUT GOD (SUPER POWER) WHEN YOU ASKED ABOUT SPIRITUALITY. The reason is very simple. Spirituality like God (Super Power) is so immessurable, it is not possible to define spirituality. The method to understand spirituality is to use "Nethi" Philosophy. But before we go to that, the very word spirituality means "something related to Spirit". and in Individual case it is something related to once own spirit.

Now here we have to see what exactly this spirituality is not, but may be thought of the sings of sipirituality. We have to understand why a particualar thing may include some aspects of spirituality, but may not be the whole of spirituality. HERE AGAIN WE HAVE TO UNDERSTAND ANOTHER ASPECT ABOUT LOGICAL CONCLUSION. IF I TAKE A PARTICULAR SUBJECT AND IF I ACTUALLY EXAGERATE IT, WILL IT STILL BE SIGN OF SPIRITUALITY - IF NOT THEN THAT PARTICULAR SUBJECT MAY HAVE SOME QUALITIES OF SPIRITUALITY, BUT MAY NOT BE THE REAL SPIRITUALITY. Now combaining this Logical conclusion method and Nethi philosophical method you wil be able to know wether particular aspect of behaviour is spirituality. LET US ANALYSE WITH EXAMPLE. Love: is that spirituality. at the first site it is. And to be spiritual love should be there. But when we exagerate love, love can go to the level of possesiveness, or love of inordinate things...etc. So love without balace is not spirituality. Hatred. Is that spirituality. At the first site it may seem that hatredness toward unholy things is sign of spirituality, but when hatredness extend to jelousiness it is not spiritualtiy. Rituals: sign of spirituality, but adherence to rituals without having human heart is not spirituality. patience: sign of spirituality, but patience which stop a person reacting to evil is not spirituality. SO MAY BE IN A WAY WE CAN DEFINE THAT SPIRITUALITY IS A KIND OF BALANCE, A MIDDLE PATH. THE MOMENT A PERSON LOSES THIS BALANCE, THE MIDDLE PATH THE PERSON GOES OUT OF THE WAY OF SPIRITUALITY

Our Seven Bodies

"Patanjali divides the human personality into five seeds, five bodies. He says you don't have one body; you have layers upon layers of bodies; and they are five.

"The first body he calls annamaya kosha - the food body, the earth body, which is made of earth and is constantly to be nourished by food. Food comes from the earth. If you stop taking food your annamaya kosha will wither away. So one has to be very alert about what one is eating because that makes you and it will affect you in millions of ways. Sooner or later your food is not just food. It becomes blood, your bones, your very marrow. It circulates in your being and goes on affecting you. So the purity of food creates a pure annamaya kosha, a pure food body.

"If the first body is pure, light, not heavy, then it is easy to enter into the second body; otherwise it will be difficult - you will be loaded. Have you watched when you have eaten too much and heavy foods? Immediately you start feeling a sort of sleep, a sort of lethargy. You would like to go to sleep; awareness immediately starts disappearing. When the first body is loaded it is difficult to create great awareness. Hence fasting became so important in all the religions. But fasting is a science and one should not fool around with it.

"Just the other night a woman came and she told me that she has been fasting and now her whole body, her whole being, is disturbed, tremendously disturbed. Now the stomach is not functioning well. And when the stomach is not functioning well, everything is weakened; the vitality is lost and you cannot be alive. You become more and more insensitive and dead.

"But fasting is important. It should be done very carefully; one should understand the functioning of the annamaya kosha - only then. And it should be done under proper guidance - the guidance of one who has moved through all the phases of his annamaya kosha. Not only that: one who has gone beyond it and who can look at the annamaya kosha as a witness. Otherwise fasting can be dangerous. Then just the right amount of food and the right quality of food has to be practiced; fasting is not needed.

"But this is important because this is your first body and people more or less cling to their first body; they never move to the second. Millions of people are not even aware that they have a second body, a deeper body, hidden behind the first sheath. The first covering is very gross.

"The second body Patanjali calls pranamaya kosha - the energy body, electric body. The second consists of electric fields. That's what acupuncture is all about. This second body is more subtle than the first, and people who start moving from the first body to the second become fields of energy, tremendously attractive, magnetic, hypnotic. If you go near them, you will feel vitalized, charged.

"If you go near a man who lives only in his food body, you will be depleted; he will suck you. Many times you come across people and you feel that they suck you. After they have left, you feel depleted, dissipated, as if somebody has exploited your energy. The first body is a sucker and the first body is very gross. So if you live too much with the first - with body-oriented people- you will feel always burdened, tense, bored, sleepy, with no energy, always at the point of the lowest rung of your energy; and you will not have any amount of energy which can be used for higher growth.

"This type, the first type, the annamaya-kosha-oriented person lives for food. He eats and eats and eats, and that's his whole life. He remains childish, in a way. The first thing that the child does in the world is to suck air, and then to suck milk. The first thing the child has to do in the world is to help the food body, and if a person remains food addicted, he remains childish. His growth suffers."
